Web Site Objectives

  • Increase inquiries
  • Promote your company image.
  • Improve your company's corporate profile.
  • Open up your company to a global market
  • Provide information about your products/services to potential customers
  • Build a prospect list for later call backs
  • Sell products directly or indirectly over the Internet

Internet Marketing Benefits

  • Permanent - Unlike newspaper ads which are thrown away after one day or a magazine which is kept for about a month, your Internet Web Site can continue to attract customers 24 hours a day, day in and day out for an extended period of time. Months and years if you so choose.
  • Visual - The Internet is beautiful. Full color pictures and logos are the standard. Sound, animation, and a variety of other effects and extras can be added to make your site unique.
  • Cost-Effective - The benefits of permanent, world wide, visual, full color, interactive, targeted marketing come to you at a surprising low cost. The Internet compares very favorably with other forms of advertising including Direct Mail, Magazines, TV and Radio.
  • Interactive - Your customers can use your Internet site to send you e-mail, fill out forms, sign a guest book, copy your literature to their computer, or print out information for later use. In short, your customers can interact with your web site much freer than was ever possible with a printed ad.
  • Targeted - Your online presence can be targeted to your customers. We will provide you with the information you need to help reference your site in places that are relevant to your customers.
  • Flexible - Your web site can be changed as needed to reflect new products, announcements, sales, or any other events.
  • Upscale Customers - Since being on the internet requires a computer, a phone line or cable connection, an ISP and some basic computing skills, most internet users are upscale people with an above average education and higher then average median income.

A Web Designer/Developer

Choosing a Web Service or Designer to create your first web page is difficult to do. Everyone has an opinion and everyone seems to have a friend that can do it for you. Chat with a few people that have sites to find out if they would deal with the same people again. Are they happy with their site? Is it what they expected?

  • Your first decision is to decide if the Web Service is to take charge from the beginning or if you are willing to do some of the early stage planning and set ups.

Existing Company logos and graphics should be examined and the style of the new site discussed, always keeping in mind your Company's objectives and budget. Web space needs to be arranged, if you want your own domain address - who is going to do the registrations with InterNic, set up e-mail aliases, update and maintain the site etc. Total project costs, future Company growth and direction identified, Company internet expectations, ISP server type, monthly internet costs and even the programs used to create your site are all considerations that should be addressed.

Try to deal with someone who is willing to spend some time with you because you only THINK you know what you want. Changes will be needed to be made along the way unless you are willing to take what they give you.

  • Are they willing to make changes to your site in a timely manner at a reasonable cost?
  • Are they willing to do maintenance on your site?
  • Are they going to be there in 6 months?

Links do break and gremlins get in somehow from time to time.

Keep in mind that a good Site Developer is willing to discuss ideas and will not mind taking your personal taste or company image into consideration when developing your site. They will also be willing to look at sites that you do find attractive to get a feel of what you have in mind so that ideas can be discussed clearly.

Check with them to make sure you understand what services are being offered as included in the site price. Extras can add considerably to your costs if they are priced separately. Try and get a pricing list so as you ask for different things you can understand the approximate costs involved. A simple request can quickly turn into a $100 extra charge if both parties are not communicating efficiently.

Graphic Artist

  • The next decision that has to be made is if the Web Site Developer will supply the needed graphics or if a Graphic Artist will be required.

A talented and creative Graphic Artist will produce the high quality, imaginative and unique graphics that are necessary to make a site appealing, to capture the viewers interest. The graphics are also an important consideration in the web site mapping to ensure easy navigation of the site. Graphic Artists often offer bundled packages of web graphics and templates for sale, that after being purchased, are customized for exclusive use on your web site. Many people find this an appealing and comfortable approach, they can see both the color and style of the graphics in advance. Custom Artwork can also usually be contracted. Your Web Site Developer will then customize your site, add your content and finish the technical development to your specifications.

As mentioned earlier, it is very important that ALL parties understand what is included in the graphics package pricing and what work involves extra charges.
